Celebrate National Consumer Protection Week with your BBB

BBB participates in National Consumer Protection Week March 4 – 10 to protect consumers

AUSTIN, Texas - Feb. 28, 2012 – Better Business Bureau is joining with federal, state and local government agencies, and national organizations to promote consumer education during the 14th annual National Consumer Protection Week, March 4-10.

“We’re very excited to be a part of National Consumer Protection Week,” said Carrie A. Hurt, president and CEO of BBB serving Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin. “This week is all about teaching consumers the tools to make smarter purchasing decisions, and that’s exactly what we plan to do.”

Thousands of consumers turn to BBB as the preeminent resource on businesses, and our goal is to go the extra mile in encouraging consumers to take full advantage of their consumer rights. Each day during NCPW, BBB will issue a daily consumer protection tip on a variety of consumer issues, such as credit and debit cards, buying a car, giving wisely to charity and other important marketplace issues.

In addition, BBB professionals will be participating in several speaking engagements across Central, Coastal, Southwest Texas and the Permian Basin educating consumers on identity theft and common scams. A full list of all BBB events taking place during NCPW can be found at www.austin.bbb.org/consumer-protection-week.

Check in daily with BBB through Facebook (www.facebook.com/YourBBB), Twitter (@CentralTexasBBB) and our blog (watchyourbuck.com) to see the daily consumer protection tips and to share ideas and tips of your own.
