Local fifth-through eighth-grade students were encouraged to write from the heart and express the core values, or laws of life, by which they live.

For-profit colleges currently enroll 1.8 million students according to the US Department of Education. These schools are privately owned or owned by a publicly traded company and their earnings can benefit individuals or shareholders. While for-profit schools are becoming a more popular option for students, a recent investigation by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that some are misleading students about the cost and quality of the education they will receive.

BBB Education Foundation invites Central Texas consumers and businesses to participate in one of two local Shred Day events this Saturday, October 23, 2010. The events, occurring simultaneously in Round Rock and San Antonio, will provide attendees with free shredding and recycling services to take steps toward identity theft prevention and a greener planet.

The combined resources of both organizations will provide assistance to seniors with regards to marketplace trends, health tips and other financial-related issues.

Fraud targeting senior citizens and their caregivers is a growing concern as thousands have fallen victim to scammers. As of August 1, 2010, BBB serving Central, Coastal and Southwest Texas reports an 11 percent increase in complaints from seniors compared to 2009.
